Credo Mobile is circulating an internet petition urging the House of Representatives to censure Todd Akin.

I won’t sign it.
I think this petition just encourages hypocritical piling on by the current majority in the House. They basically agree with Mr. Akin’s position on abortion. The majority just doesn’t like his justification for that position, or more to the point, doesn’t like the straightforward way he expressed it.
On May 4, 2011, in Roll Call 292 on HR 3, a generous majority of the House, 251 members, voted to ban any taxpayer funding for abortions, even in cases of rape or incest.

There is no practical difference in the policy those Representatives voted for and the policy Todd Akin favors. He just has a more elaborate justification for blaming rape on the victim.
If the House censures Todd Akin, it should censure all 251 members for their votes on HR 3. Singling out Rep. Akin as the fall guy for creating a storm of protest, when all he did was point out the unvarnished truth about the motivation of the majority, would be hypocritical scapegoating.
Hey, Representatives! If you want to find someone to censure, look in the mirror.
